What a Week!

The reason I didn’t email last Monday was that it was a regular work day since Tuesday the ZL’s had to go to Lima for Zone Council and a conference with Elder Bednar (I am so jealous of those freaking jerks! I wanted to hear Elder Bednar SOOOO badly and only the Zone Leaders and missionaries that were already in Lima were able to go).

They Tried to Kill Me with Sheep Tongue This Week

So, first things first…  Sheep tongue is really, really gross.  Sunday, a member took us to a restaurant since she didn’t have anything at her home to feed us after church.  We had some pretty tasty chicken like Hna Maria did back in San Pedro, but it wasn’t nearly as good as I Hma Maria’s — she is just an awesome cook.  Anyway… to start with, they gave us some soup that was unlike any soup that I have ever had anywhere, even in Peru.  In MY soup was a gigantic piece of meat that looked really bizarre… I asked our server what it was, and she told me that it was sheep tongue!  Turns out that the soup is called Caldo de Cordero — basically a soup where they take every part of a sheep’s head and throw it into a soup.  So tasty! (Except I didn’t eat much of it at all.)

One Week Down at about 4,600 Meters of Altitude!

Well, it has been quite the week.  I’ve been chilling at a crazy altitude and even though we haven’t had much success this week, I am still excited.  The only real change I notice is a bit of a headache now and then, but I think San Pedro prepared me to be this high up.  I really am loving this area and am having a great time with my new companion, Elder Cifuentes.  Also, Elder Diaz, my old companion, is in my district and Elder Montgomery is our Zone Leader, so we have an Old District reunion here in Cerro.

Hello and Greetings from Cerro de Pasco

That’s right! I’m now in Cerro de Pasco.  I am now serving in the highest stake in the world!  I think we are at about 14,000 feet above sea level.  I  got a phone call last night with the information that I was going to have an emergency transfer.   (An emergency transfer just means it is not on the regular transfer day.)  I asked where I’d be going, and they told me that I’d be off to the Cerro de Pasco Zone in Cerro de Pasco itself as a District leader over about fourteen missionaries, including my Zone Leaders and the Hermanas.  It is going to be quite the adventure, but I am so excited to be here! I’ve been wanting to be in Cerro my whole mission and the Lord has given me the chance.

Hello from the Newest DL in SPdC

Sorry to be so late in writing today!  We’re in Tarma, and had trouble pulling out our monthly money at the ATM.  The mission debit cards wouldn’t work, so I took out quite a bit from my personal checking account — 200 Soles which is like $75.  I hope they have it fixed soon.  And then we got here, and the mouse on the computer didn’t work.  But, it is all good now.
