Well, another week. There isn’t really a whole lot to report, so I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking. I really enjoyed Christmas this year and it was super nice to reflect on the Savior.
Christmas was a great day. We had a good time with our Pension’s family and tried to get some work done. We had a ton of Panetón and lots of other good stuff. However, the best part of the season was how close I came to the Savior. I feel like I had an Enos moment. The words of Life just sunk down into my soul and I poured my heart out to my Maker. I’m no means perfect, but I think that this is one of the most important first steps that I can take in that direction. I know that this is planned and that God sent me to Jauja for a reason. I imagine that this was one of those reasons.
We’ve been doing a lot of walking this week. We are having a hard time finding people to teach. I’ve heard people say that there are no hard areas, but there are certainly people with hardened hearts here. We are trying everything that we know how to do, but it isn’t quite working. We talk to quite a few people here, but they just aren’t that interested. They say that there’s a special phrase here in Jauja: “Mientras Jauja sigue bailando, Huancayo sigue progresando.” Meaning that as long as Jauja is dancing and partying, Huancayo is progressing. That means that they are traditionalists and love their parties.
Well, that’s just about it for this week. Not too much to report, but I’m certain that there will be more next week. I’m ready for an adventure and I hope that you all have a great one, too!
